Big Data + Generative AI: Real Customer Intelligence 2026
In 2015 we published the second part of our series on Big Data in customer relationships. The approach back then was simple: filtering noise on Twitter, detecting volume spikes and tracking sentiment with keywords. Dell was receiving 25,000 mentions a day, for example. Meanwhile, British Airways took 10 hours to react to a crisis. Domino’s, for its part, measured the reputational impact of a viral video for weeks. Now, at BAOSS IT consulting we rebuild it with AI agents and RAG.
Today, in 2026, that approach is obsolete. The volume of conversational data has multiplied by 50. Customers don’t just tweet: they open tickets, chat with bots, leave reviews on Google Maps and record TikToks. They also send voice notes over WhatsApp Business and generate in-product usage telemetry. Therefore, the challenge is no longer “listening”, but understanding, prioritizing and acting in milliseconds with generative AI, autonomous agents and RAG architectures in production.
At BAOSS we have deployed this transition across a dozen enterprise clients (banking, telco, retail, industry) during 2026-2027. Below we walk you through four real problems we solve today with a modern stack, production metrics and lessons learned.
Problem 1: Signal vs. noise at enterprise scale — 2.3M interactions/month
2015 context: Dell filtered 25,000 mentions/day with keywords. 2026 reality: a Spanish telco operator handles 2.3 million monthly interactions. Specifically, that figure covers call center (Whisper transcripts), web chat, app, email, social, reviews and internal tickets. However, 78% is operational noise: invoice queries, address changes, coverage questions.
BAOSS IT consulting solution: RAG pipeline + CrewAI multi-agent for semantic triage
- Unified ingestion: first, Kafka Connect + Debezium capture streams from 12 sources (Genesys, Zendesk, Twilio, Meta API, Google My Business, Trustpilot, app logs). Then, everything is normalized to a common
InteractionEventschema in Apache Iceberg on S3. - Embedding + RAG:
text-embedding-3-large(OpenAI) orbge-m3(local on vLLM/Ollama for sensitive data) vectorizes every interaction. The HNSW index in Qdrant uses partitioning bytenant_id + month. As a result, P99 latency stays < 120ms. - CrewAI agents (3 specialists):
- ClassifierAgent: GPT-4o mini + few-shot (1,200 curated examples) → 94% F1 across 18 categories (billing, cancellation, outage, portability, complaint, upsell…).
- PriorityAgent: next, Claude 3.5 Sonnet evaluates urgency, customer value (CLV), churn risk and contractual SLA → score 0-100.
- RoutingAgent: finally, a LangGraph state machine decides: auto-resolve (RAG + tool-use), escalate to a human with full context, or route to a specialized team.
- Human-in-the-loop: Streamlit + WebSocket interface for contact center agents. Moreover, every agent verdict includes an explanation (SHAP values over features) + an “Accept/Correct” button → it feeds weekly fine-tuning.
Production metrics (6 months, anonymized)
- 42% reduction in tickets escalated to humans (specifically, automated tier-1: invoice queries, APN configuration, usage checks).
- Mean time to resolution (MTTR): 18 min → 4.2 min (auto-resolved cases); 4.1 h → 1.3 h (escalated cases, thanks to prior context).
- Precision@1 routing: 91% (vs 67% previous rule-based).
- ROI 3.4x in 6 months (that is, FTE savings + retention from early churn detection).
Key lesson: weekly fine-tuning with human feedback (DPO on GPT-4o mini) was critical. Without it, accuracy degraded 2.3%/month due to concept drift in customer terminology and new products.
Problem 2: Real-time crisis detection — From 10 hours to 15 minutes
2015 context: British Airways took 10h to detect Hasan Syed’s promoted tweet. 2026 reality: a crisis is born on TikTok, jumps to X, reaches digital media and triggers mass complaints in <30 min. Consequently, the lifecycle is measured in minutes, not hours.
BAOSS solution: LangGraph streaming agents + MCP for cross-channel context
- Stream processing: Apache Flink SQL over Kafka topics (raw social, Meta/TikTok/YouTube webhooks, Google News API, GDELT). 1 min tumbling windows + 15 min session windows.
- Anomaly detection: next, an Isolation Forest + Prophet model over the time series of volume, sentiment (fine-tuned
distilbert-base-multilingual-cased-sentiment), toxicity (Perspective API) and velocity (2nd derivative). In addition, the threshold is dynamic per channel and time of day. - Investigator agent (LangGraph): once the alert fires, a 6-node graph:
- Clusterizer: first, HDBSCAN over the last 30 min of embeddings → emerging topics.
- Enricher: moreover, MCP (Model Context Protocol) connects to 8 internal sources (CRM, billing, network monitoring, logistics) + external ones (Dow Jones, Brandwatch, SimilarWeb) → 360° context in <2s.
- finally, GPT-4o generates the executive brief: what is happening, who is affected, estimated impact (€), root cause hypothesis and recommended actions.
- StakeholderRouter: lastly, rules + LLM decide who to notify (Slack, PagerDuty, email, Teams) based on severity, area and time of day.
Real case: Mobile network incident — Multinational retailer (anonymized)
Saturday 14:23. Intermittent 4G outage in 3 provinces. Then, first complaints on TikTok (tech creators) + X. T+15 min: the agent detects the anomaly (volume x12, sentiment -0.72, toxicity 0.68). T+18 min: NarrativeBuilder correlates it with an internal Netcool alert (congested BTS) + Zendesk tickets “no data”. T+22 min: executive brief in Slack #crisis-comms + PagerDuty to CTO/CMO. Finally, at T+35 min: proactive communication published: “We detected an incident in area X, teams working, ETA 45 min”.
The result was remarkable: 0 mentions in traditional media (vs 3 prior crises/year with El País/Expansión coverage). Post-incident NPS: -3 pts (vs -18 historical). Lastly, actual resolution time: 52 min.
Problem 3: Actionable sentiment — Beyond positive/negative/neutral
2015 context: Domino’s tracked generic sentiment after the video crisis. 2026 reality: a bank needs to know what is frustrating the customer. That is: is it the app UX, hidden fees, call center wait time or a loan rejection? It must also correlate it with propensity to churn and LTV.
BAOSS solution: Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) + Knowledge Graph
- Fine-tuned ABSA model:
Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct(vLLM, 4xH100) + LoRA (r=32, alpha=64) over 45k internal annotations (aspect, polarity, intensity, suggested action). In total, 142 banking aspects (app_login, instant_transfer, atm_fee, fixed_rate_mortgage…). - Knowledge Graph (Neo4j): Nodes: Customer, Product, Channel, Aspect, Employee, Branch. Relationships: MENTIONS, HAS, HANDLES, BUYS. For example: “High-LTV customers (>€15k) with recurring negative sentiment on variable_rate_mortgage over the last 90 days”.
- AutoGen agent (3 agents):
- InsightMiner: first, detects temporal patterns (CUSUM), affected segments and correlation with internal events (app deploy, pricing change).
- BusinessTranslator: Turns findings into business language: “The ‘Digital Youth’ segment (18-30, high app engagement) shows a -0.34 degradation in instant_transfer after v4.2.1 → €2.1M ARR risk”.
- ActionPlanner: finally, proposes initiatives (technical fix, retention campaign, agent training) with simulated expected uplift.
Metrics (Retail banking, 12 months)
- ABSA accuracy: 92.3% (vs 65% VADER/TextBlob; vs 78% base BERT).
- Actionable insights/month: 47 ± 8 (vs 3-4 previous quarterly reports).
- Estimated avoided churn: 1,240 customers/year (€3.8M ARR protected).
- Time-to-insight: 4 hours (that is, event → executive brief) vs 3 weeks (traditional analyst cycle).
Technical detail: the LoRA is retrained biweekly with human feedback.
From Dell in 2015 to autonomous customer intelligence in 2026, the leap is clear. It is no longer about listening, but about understanding, prioritizing and acting in milliseconds with agents and RAG in production. In short, at BAOSS IT consulting we deploy this architecture across dozens of enterprise clients, with real production metrics and human-in-the-loop on every critical decision.
