Predictive Analytics 2026: AI Agents, RAG and Real BAOSS Cases
In October 2017 we published on this very blog an introduction to predictive analytics: decision trees, regressions and the incipient neural networks. Eight years later, the term “predictive analytics” has fallen short. In 2026-2027 predicting is no longer enough. The market expectation —and ours as a consultancy— is, therefore, to prescribe, automate and execute decisions in milliseconds.
According to the Gartner Hype Cycle 2024 for Data Science and ML, AI Agents and Composite AI (combination of classic ML, GenAI, graphs and optimization) capabilities have reached the “Plateau of Productivity” in sectors such as banking, retail and manufacturing. Additionally, IDC estimates that worldwide spending on generative and predictive AI platforms will exceed $300,000M in 2026. The CAGR since 2023 is 29%.
The real 2026-2027 problem: Abundant data, slow decisions
Clients coming to BAOSS today do not ask “what predictive analytics is”. Now they ask this:
- “We have 15 models in production, but time-to-insight is still measured in weeks. How do we reduce it to hours?”
- “Our churn model has 0.82 AUC, but the retention team does not trust the scores. How do we explain and act on them?”
- “We want to move from nightly batch scoring to real-time inference on Kafka event streams with latency <50 ms.”
- “We need unified governance for classic models, LLMs and autonomous agents under the EU AI Act.”
The gap is no longer algorithmic. GPT-4o, Claude 4 and open models such as Llama 3.1 405B on Ollama democratize predictive capability. Therefore, the gap is architectural, operational and one of trust.
From static models to composite systems: The BAOSS 2026 stack
In our current projects, the “predictive model” is only one component. Being part of a composite system (Composite AI) forces it to orchestrate several elements:
- Centralized Feature Store (Feast / Hopsworks) with feature freshness < 5 min.
- RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) over knowledge graphs (Neo4j + LangGraph) to contextualize predictions with documentation, tickets and regulation.
- Autonomous agents (CrewAI, AutoGen, LangGraph) that: (1) query the predictive model, (2) retrieve evidence via RAG, (3) draft the recommendation in natural language, (4) trigger the action in ERP/CRM via MCP (Model Context Protocol).
- Unified observability: Prometheus + Grafana + Evidently AI for data drift, concept drift, latency, cost per inference and fairness metrics.
- Hybrid serving: vLLM / TGI for LLMs on GPU (A100/H100), ONNX Runtime / Triton for classic models (XGBoost, LightGBM, TabPFN) on CPU —all behind an API Gateway with canary releases and shadow mode.
Real BAOSS cases (anonymized, audited metrics)
Case 1: Retail banking — Proactive retention with AI agents
Challenge: the bank had a monthly batch churn model (AUC 0.81). Managers ignored it due to lack of explainability and late action.
BAOSS solution: we migrated to daily scoring. Additionally, we deployed a CrewAI agent (3 agents: Scorer, Explainer with SHAP + LLM, ActionPlanner). It generates a personalized next-best-action in the CRM. We also built a RAG over the interaction history and MiFID II regulation.
Results at 6 months:
- 42% reduction in deployment time of new features (Feature Store + MLflow CI/CD + GitOps ArgoCD).
- ROI 3.2x: €1.8M saved on poorly targeted retention campaigns.
- Manager adoption: 78% (vs 12% previously) thanks to natural-language explanations + traceable evidence.
- Inference + explanation P99 latency: 340 ms (vLLM on A100 40GB, batch size 32).
Case 2: Discrete manufacturing — Multimodal predictive maintenance
Challenge: the plant suffered unplanned downtime on the assembly line (cost €18k/h). It had vibration, temperature and current sensors, plus MES logs and maintenance manuals (PDF).
BAOSS solution: we built a multimodal pipeline. First, TabPFN (Tabular Prior-Data Fitted Networks) for tabular time series. Then, a 1D CNN for raw vibration. Additionally, RAG over technical manuals (Llama 3.1 70B quantized 4-bit on Ollama) to generate the root-cause hypothesis. Finally, orchestration with LangGraph + MCP to automatically create work orders in SAP PM.
Results at 9 months:
- 37% reduction in unplanned downtime (from 22 to 14/year).
- MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) -28% thanks to RAG-assisted diagnosis.
- Inference cost/day: €12 (vLLM + ONNX on 2x T4, spot instances).
- EU AI Act compliance: High-risk AI system documented, mandatory human-in-the-loop before automatic shutdown.
Case 3: Omnichannel e-commerce — Demand forecasting with calibrated uncertainty
Challenge: the weekly forecast per SKU/store (120k combinations) had an 18% MAPE. Additionally, there was over-stock in 23% of references and stock-outs in 15%.
BAOSS solution: we built an ensemble: Temporal Fusion Transformer (PyTorch Forecasting) + LightGBM + conformal prediction. This way we obtain calibrated prediction intervals (90% actual coverage). Additionally, an AutoGen agent simulates what-if scenarios (promos, holidays, supplier disruptions) and recommends the optimal replenishment.
Results at 4 months:
- MAPE 11.2% (vs 18% baseline).
- Average stock -19% while keeping the 98.5% service level.
- What-if simulation time (100 scenarios): 2.3 sec (AutoGen + vLLM parallelization).
2026 techniques: What we actually use in production

Multimodal / Documents LayoutXLM, Donut, GPT-4o Vision, Claude 4 Vision, Llama 3.2 Vision Feature extraction from PDFs, blueprints, labels, attached tickets. LoRA fine-tuning if the domain is very specific. Agents / Composite AI LangGraph (stateful, cycles), CrewAI (role-based), AutoGen (multi-agent conversation), MCP (standardized tool calling) Decision workflows > 3 steps, need for human-in-the-loop, full traceability, ERP/CRM/API integration. Uncertainty Quantification Conformal Prediction, Quantile Regression, MC Dropout, Deep Ensembles, NGBoost, Laplace Approximation Mandatory in high-risk decisions (credit, health, safety). Regulators demand intervals, not point estimates. Tools 2026: Our verdict after 50+ projects
